Hello!
My name is Hope. We started Mythical Creature Rescue to help find unfortunate dragons, unicorns, and other mythical or magical creatures a loving home.
There are so many of us out there that need your help.
Thank you for visiting and we hope you can help us find them a
Magical Second Chance!
Our Story
Hope is our Guardian of Second Chances and here's her story (and ours too)...
My wife and I were enjoying the outdoors at our cottage in the woods a few years back. As we were in the backyard with our coffee and books, we heard a loud crash in the woods not too far away. We got up and investigated the sound and found a small dragon, who we would come to know as Hope, hurt and scared. We were able to approach this small dragon without her getting too upset, so we carefully picked her up and carried her back to our cottage. While my wife worked on checking her for injuries and attempted to make her comfortable, I set out to determine what had caused this beautiful creature to be injured.
After a couple of hours searching, I found a small band of fortune hunters rummaging around the base of mountain. (Apparently, they were trying to make a name for themselves and were hunting dragons).
Striking up a friendly conversation with them, they came to share that they frightened off the mother and father to try to capture the young dragon. She was sleeping in her nest, and after being startled by the hunters, fell about 25 feet to the forest floor below. They were searching for any clues to where she could have gone. After a few tense moments, I convinced them the hurt dragon had headed back up the mountain.
When I was sure they were well on their way up the mountain trail, I returned home. My wife had already cleaned up the little one, set her broken leg, and gotten her something to eat. The little dragon made herself right at home and was fast asleep on my favorite chair. Note: When I say "Little" what I really mean is "about the size of a Golden Retriever!!"
We stayed up all night to make sure she was ok and did not wake up in a panic. By mid-morning the little dragon let us hand feed her and followed us around wherever we went.
Because her family was run off by the hunters and our newfound friend needed around the clock attention, we decided to become her adopted family. We nurtured her back to health and provided her with a second chance at life.
One afternoon while she was playing outside, we thought we heard someone talking. We rushed out to see who it was and to make sure she was ok. But it turned out that our highly intelligent companion was practicing the sounds she heard while we were talking. We started teaching her how to talk and that is how we found out her name was Hope. Well, we think she said Hope. It was a very guttural sound that we interpreted as Hope.
Once Hope was big enough and was communicating well, she expressed a desire to find other creatures that might need help. My wife and I, having a deep love for animals, thought it was a good idea. With a now horse sized dragon, we began to search out others in need and help them too.
That is how Mythical Creature Rescue began. We search for mythical creatures in need and help them find
Magical Second Chances.
